Southern Red Sea

It has been reported that an incident has occurred on a vessel, 48nm Southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen. 

UPDATE: OPS has received further information that the vessel is a tanker that has reported an explosion. No further information is available at this time. We will continue to investigate and update this alert accordingly.


Vessels within a 100 nautical mile radius should increase their anti-piracy deterrents in line with Best Management Practices 4. This should include increased twenty four hour anti-piracy watch keeping and radar monitoring. Vessel hardening should be checked and where appropriate bolstered.
