Red Sea, Yemen Exact location unknown: The UKMTO has issued an advisory after receiving a telephone call at 2013 UTC, stating that a Yemeni Coast Guard vessel had struck a mine. Investigations are currently being undertaken following numerous reports that the incident took place in Yemeni Territorial Waters in close proximity to the port of Al Mukha. It has been confirmed that two sailors have been killed and that a number of crew members are injured.

The UKMTO have re-iterated that the advice previously issued remains applicable; Masters should consider increasing vigilance within the Bab el Mandeb. The farthest possible distance from the Yemen Coast should be maintained. The Bab el Mandeb should be transited during daylight hours and that the western TSS is used where possible.
