SOCOTRA ISLAND

It has been reported that a wooden vessel was attacked off Socotra Island. During this attack up-to five crew members were shot with one seriously injured. Coalition forces are on-route to investigate this incident. OPS Global Risk management will continue to gather further information and update this alert accordingly.

Vessels within a 100 nautical mile radius should increase their anti-piracy deterrents in line with Best Management Practices 4. This should include increased twenty four hour anti-piracy watch keeping and radar monitoring. Vessel hardening should be checked and where appropriate bolstered.
