It has been reported that a cargo vessel has been approached whilst underway in 30nm southeast of Takoradi. Two speedboats, one with six persons on board and one with three persons on board aborted their approach once the cargo vessel had increased speed and changed course. The vessel is now classed as safe.

Vessels within a 100 nautical mile radius should increase their anti-piracy deterrents in line with Best Management Practices 4. This should include increased twenty four hour anti-piracy watch keeping and radar monitoring. Vessel hardening should be checked and where appropriate bolstered.
